Biography:
Soyoung had always been a bit of an odd child, her parents often talking between each other about how different she was from the rest of the family. All of her siblings were already grown and out of the house by the time she was born, though, and so the generation gap was their favorite thing to blame. In fact, their children all finally being out on their own is the primary reason Soyoung was even conceived in the first place. The product of their celebrating getting a little... out of hand.
Neither of her parents felt that they really had the energy to keep up with another child, and though they did their best they took a much more... hands off approach than they had with their previous children. The age difference and clashing personalities made it hard for Soyoung to get along with her siblings, and she also had trouble relating to anyone her own age so the first half of her life was lonely. During those years, instead of spending her time with friends she spent it reading and drawing or creating any sort of art her young mind could think up. Her favorite was creating illustrations based off of her favorite Grimm's fairy tales, though many of them would often come out... worrying.
Though Soyoung has the tendency to isolate herself from others and sink too far into whatever project she may be working on, once she does find someone she connects with it's easy for her to become overly attached and cling on a little too hard. This ended up being how it was during her high school years, being the shadow of the boy who had become her best friend and allowing him to be part of her identity. She was rarely found without him for those years and that is where she found her happiness. This only created difficulties when university caused them to have to separate and Soyoung was left feeling like a shadow with no one to follow behind.
Since then however she has slowly been working on becoming her own self without pushing everyone else out in the process. Finding a good mid-point is best, even if there have been many ups and downs in the process.
How easily she becomes defensive over her art and interests didn't help her connect with many people when she was younger, but it has also given her a sense of acceptance and understanding of the oddities of others that she prides herself of. How can she expect others to understand her points if she refuses to understand theirs? Always someone who is overly honest about things, she prefers to keep quiet about things instead of having to lie if the truth is less than pleasant. Soyoung puts a lot of effort into keeping herself calm and kind as much as possible, but there are times when everything that's held back in the process spills out in a rather chaotic explosion.
